Maundy Thursday

Maundy-Thursday_2I have always liked Maundy Thursday.  Well “liked” may not be the right word. What I mean is that this day is significant for me and believers in Christ since the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.

As I think about what Jesus and His disciples were doing on that Thursday night I am overwhelmed with emotion. We know hours after they ate together, that Jesus was cruelly beaten and of course on Friday morning, crucified.

Jesus encouraged His disciples with both His words and His actions. He led them in celebrating the Passover giving special meaning to it…as He was about to become the Passover Lamb. He showed true humility as He washed their feet demonstrating that He came to serve and not to be served.

Here are some things we can learn.

  1. Make the time count. Jesus used this last night to celebrate with friends and to pray.
  2. Remember that people count.  Be a friend to others and let others in your inner circle when you are having a life experience.
  3. Make your life count.  Jesus fulfilled His purpose of bringing salvation and life to those who receive Him as Savior.  Do you believe that?

Let’s reflect this Easter season on its significance and how Jesus changed the world…and continues to change lives!.
