Immanuel- My Favorite Christmas Word

SBC NativityImmanuel is one of my favorite Christmas words!

I like how it sounds as it is spoken. Even more so, I like what it means; God with us!

Our Christian faith is so unique in that the TRUE ONE and ONLY DIVINE GOD chose to to be wrapped in humanity to show the way. Faith in Him will transform your life.

Allow me to continue defining the word Immanuel using the symbolism of the Advent candles.

Immanuel means HOPE. Matthew 12:21 says ” The nations will put their hope in His Name. “

Immanuel mens PEACE. In Luke 1:79 the Bible says that Jesus  came “to shine on those who live in darkness and the shadow of death and to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

Immanuel means JOY.  Luke 2:10. The angel said “don’t be afraid for look I proclaim to you and good new of great joy which be for all the people.”

Immanuel means LOVE. John 3:16  “For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

In the middle of the Advent wreath is the Christ Candle. It is white symbolizing the purity of Christ and just as significant is the fact that is at the very center. Just like in the wreath, Christ must be the center of our lives. When He is, then we too can shine brightly for Him reflecting His saving love for all mankind which is the true meaning of Christmas.

Immanuel.  Speak it,  Live it.
