Memorial Day originated as in the post Civil War days to remember those who had given their lives during this time in our history. By the 1900’s it became a time of remembering all who had fallen in battle and remains a sobering and thankful time as we remember those who have given their lives for our freedom and way of life.
A few years ago, I was in the Minneapolis airport awaiting a flight when a plane landed carrying a fallen soldier who was to buried in the national cemetery there. We could see the plane from our terminal window and watched as the military precisely cared for this soldier. All in the terminal stood with respect and in silence.
I, like you, am grateful for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. And again, like you am grateful for the sacrifice that Christ made for our sins that we might experience true freedom in Him.
May God Bless America and the families of those who have sacrificed their lives.
