Wisdom in Relationships

Extraordinary RelationshipsAs I was reading Proverbs 31 earlier this week about how wise women are a virtue to God and to families, I thought about both my mom and my wife. My wife Sherry is an incredible woman of faith and patience. She has made our home a place of security, love, and joy and raised our children to be mature independent adults as she “gave them wings”. She prays daily for the Holy Spirit to guide her every decision. Sherry is extremely generous and compassionate. My life would not be the same without her.

The woman of Proverbs 31 in our study this weekend is a great example to emulate. Her devotion to her family is mentioned throughout this passage as well as her astute sense of business. Her influence shapes her family and changes her community. The woman of Proverbs 31 walks with God.

The inspired Word of God is life-changing. When we read it each day and allow the Word to shape our prayers then we are grasping the wisdom that this woman had in our passage. And then when we “do life together” with others who are also speaking to Jesus each day…well our lives reflect so much more of the love that God intended. Finish strong by reading the Bible and talking to God every day. And make sure you are in a small group that studies the Word and supports each other through life just as believers have for centuries. This is what makes individuals, families and churches strong.

Things to Ponder:
Proverbs 31 is an alphabetic acrostic in Hebrew. Use our English alphabet and list characteristics of the women in your family.
How does God’s wisdom shape your life like that of the woman in Proverbs?
How can you show respect and honor to your mom, wife, daughter or sister?
